Belgian patisserie

I recently opened a shop in Bogota called "Dulces Belgas", which offers Colombian consumers different sweet treats from Belgium, and, in actual fact, mainly from Wallonia. Many are from the region of Liège where I come from. We import the confectionery and make the patisseries on site.

Colombia is known for producing cocoa but it is Belgian chocolate that is famous! We import and sell the large range of one of the best Belgian chocolate makers: Galler. We also offer other products that are well-known in Belgium but much less so in Latin America, such as the delicious Sirop de Liège (fruit spread) and our extremely enjoyable cuberdons (a cone-shaped Belgian candy). We import them from family and craft businesses based in the Liège region and we introduce them to Colombians, who seem to enjoy them.

On site, we make various Belgian cakes, such as Liège waffles but also Tarte au Riz (a pie with a filling based on rice pudding), Vauthion Vervietois (a Belgian patisserie from the Verviers region) and our famous cougnous (sweet bread). These products may be taken away, savoured in our small tasting lounge, or even ordered for family celebrations, school events, or any other occasion.

Finally, with our Liège waffles and our Walloon cakes, we serve coffee, naturally from Colombia, but produced by a Belgian cooperative that helps indigenous people from the Sierra Nevada.
