A new “Welcome Office” in Tournai
A new “Welcome Office” in Tournai

Wallonia is getting ready to welcome and support green enterprises and North American companies. How? With the “Welcome Office” which was opened on Tuesday in Negundo (Tournai).

Rudy Demotte, Minister-President of the Walloon Region and Mayor of Tournai, was in Tournai on Tuesday to inaugurate the “Welcome Office North America & Cleantech”.

This, AWEX (Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency) ’s seventh such office, is aimed at companies from North America or which specialise in green technologies and would like to develop their activities in Wallonia. It will provide interpreters and assistance with understanding Walloon culture and its tax and social aspects, all free of charge.

Given Wallonia’s location at the heart of Europe, the new office will offer companies the opportunity to invest in Wallonia with a view to exporting to a European market comprising more than 400 million consumers.

The manager of the new service is Philippe Wanderpepen, who has degrees in economic science and translation and is a former factory manager at Bonduelle. He will have four sites available for receiving companies.
