Did you know that Mamba venom has analgesic properties? That the venom of the Australian jumping spider can save lives in the event of a heart attack? That fer-de-lance venom is used to make a surgical glue?

The healing properties of the venoms and secretions of venomous animals are increasingly being used and studied. If this research can take place and these therapeutic advances succeed, it is in part thanks to the products of a Belgian company: Alphabiotoxine Laboratory located in Frasnes, in the province of Hainaut in Wallonia.

Founded in 2009 by Rudy Fourmy, who is passionate about animals and biochemistry, this laboratory specialises in the production and distribution of venoms and purified toxins for research and the pharmaceutical industry. Currently managed by Aude Violette, who has a PhD in Biochemistry, Alphabiotoxine has staked out its place in the niche venom production market. The company is recognised around the world for its expertise and the quality and diversity of its products, and it works on a scale that could be described as artisanal.

This unique company produces the venoms and secretions of snakes, scorpions, spiders, lizards, hymenoptera, batrachians, marine organisms and various insects.
Its products are extracted using practices that respect animal wellbeing. There are regular veterinary inspections. The installations are also monitored to ensure the health of the animals and the safety of workers and residents.

Seeing the research progress thanks to the venoms it produces is a great source of pride for the Alphabiotoxine laboratory. A reason to continue: No need to hope to get started, or to succeed to persevere... Anything is possible with a maxim like that!
