A Belgian Web TV channel to seduce China

The launch of a Belgian television channel on the internet was announced during the Chinese New Year. Fruit of collaboration between the Belgian Medianext company active in the television production and distribution sectors and the Belgian-Chinese chamber of commerce, the purpose of this Web TV channel is to promote our country's strengths in China in the economic, tourist and academic areas.

An original manner of trying to attract Chinese investors. But not just that! It's also a real digital postcard. It's also intended for expatriates and will invite increasing numbers of Chinese tourists to visit our country.

BCTV is its name (Belgium-China TV), a medium serving all Belgian actors linked, more or less closely, with China. This new digital platform is set to promote communication with Chinese internet users. For information, at the end of 2013, there were almost 618 million regular internet users in China.

The main broadcasts will be recorded in two Brussels' private television studios.

BCTV's programmes will also be broadcast on the Chinese video sites Youku and Tudou as well as on the Weibo social network.

An initiative that has come at a timely moment. In 2013, almost 100 million Chinese tourists travelled abroad and spent over $102 billion, ie. approximately €75 billion.

China is Belgium's second largest trading partner excluding the European Union. In 2012, Belgian exports to China reached $10 billion (+/- €7 billion). Chinese exports, in turn, represented $16 billion (+/- €12 billion) in Belgium.
