Wallonia distinguished itself at the Green Solutions Awards 2017 ceremony held in the frame of the global climate conference in Bonn (Germany). Three Walloon companies received a prize in this international competition organised by the Construction21 network, which rewards sustainable technological innovations in the construction sector.

The aim of this competition is to promote exemplary buildings that offer concrete solutions among innovation pioneers at the service of the environment.

BSolutions (Gembloux) received the "Sustainable Construction Grand Prize" for its high-energy performance building in the heart of the Créalys science park in Isnes.

The winners also include two projects in Hainaut: the Cité du Centenaire (Centenary City) in Charleroi (Startech Management Group) and Projet 55 in Mons (Homeco).

The Cité du Centenaire eco-neighbourhood in Montignies-sur-Sambre won the Sustainable City Grand Prize in Bonn. It was up against 10 other neighbourhoods around the world. It is the first social passive housing neighbourhood in Wallonia, a project by La Sambrienne.

Finally, Projet 55 won the Sustainable Renovation Grand Prize.   Projet 55 is a zero energy refurbishment project of a heritage listed mansion in the centre of Mons.
