Wallonia Stands Out at SIAL Paris: 47 Companies Exhibiting and Two Innovations Recognised

For over 30 years, Wallonia has been participating in SIAL Paris, the leading international food trade show for the retail sector, which will take place this year from 17 to 21 October. 47 companies, 4 sectors (gourmet and ready-to-eat foods, meat and charcuterie, confectionery and frozen products), one nominee for the SIAL Innovation Awards and one winner of the SIAL for Change Awards.

At SIAL Paris 2026, one of the world's leading events for the food industry, Wallonia will have a particularly strong presence, with 47 companies exhibiting under the banner of AWEX. Spread across six collective stands in four sectors (confectionery, meat, frozen foods and gourmet and ready-to-eat products), these companies will showcase the diversity and dynamism of Wallonia's food industry to an international audience of buyers, distributors, industry professionals and major retailers.

Two Walloon Innovations in the Spotlight

At a time when environmental, social and nutritional challenges are profoundly reshaping the food industry, SIAL Paris is reaffirming its role as a catalyst for change. Staying true to its DNA, the trade show places innovation at the heart of its activities, bringing together the entire food industry around practical, sustainable and creative solutions.

Through its two flagship competitions – SIAL Innovation and SIAL for Change – SIAL Paris encourages companies to showcase their achievements, share their commitments and actively contribute to a more responsible food system.

Belgian brand SWEET-SWITCH®, which develops indulgent sugar-free alternatives ranging from confectionery and chocolate to fibre-rich soft drinks, is among the products selected for the SIAL Innovation 2026 competition. This recognition highlights the brand's approach, combining enjoyment, innovation and evolving consumer expectations regarding nutrition. The winners will be announced during the trade show.

Meanwhile, ORIGINE, whose European operations have been based in Aubel since 2024, has been named a SIAL for Change 2026 award winner in the "SME Grand Prix" category. Specialising in single-origin natural ingredients, the company stands out for its integrated and transparent supply chain, from cultivation in Indonesia through to delivery, ensuring traceability, quality and control over the impact of its products.
