
Mr. Jean-Louis Rolot, from the Walloon Center for Agricultural Research, received the "Friendship Award" from the Chinese government.
50 foreign experts have received this prize, among them Mr. Rolot, for their contribution to the development and openness of China.
The medal ceremony of the "Friendship Award" was held in Beijing.
Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Ma Kai explained at the ceremony that China is working to attract foreign experts to help its development and modernization.
In the 1950s, to encourage experts from the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and other countries to work in China, Prime Minister Zhou Enlai and Chen Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, sent Thank you letter for the special contribution of foreign experts on the eve of the National Day.
After the reform and opening in 1991, the State Council authorized the National Bureau of Foreign Experts to formally resume the creation of the "Friendship Award". From 1991 to 2014, 1399 foreign experts from 68 countries received this award.
Mr. Rolot has benefited from the support of WBI in the framework of bilateral mobility programs in partnership with China (Ministry of Science and Technology).
