Specialising in the production of frozen waffles, DELY Wafels has turned family expertise into an international success story. Based in Estaimpuis, Belgium, the Walloon company continues to expand its export activities, particularly in the United States and Latin America, and has set its sights on new markets.
Davy Van Poucke has been immersed in the world of waffle-making from a very young age. He started working in the family factory, which was founded by his grandparents and later taken over by his parents. In 2001, Davy Van Poucke and his wife, Ellen Tournois, established their own company under the name “DELY Wafels”. “The D and Y come from my first name, Davy, while the letters EL stand for Ellen,” explains Davy, proudly revealing the wordplay behind the name.
DELY Wafels quickly gained recognition and established a reputation around the world. As the business continued to grow, the company decided to relocate from Eeklo to Mouscron, in Wallonia, in 2009 to meet the increasing demands of its international customers.
In 2018, a fire completely destroyed the company's production facility in Mouscron. Determined to rebuild, Ellen and Davy decided to move to the industrial estate in Estaimpuis, giving DELY Wafels the opportunity to start afresh and expand its operations with state-of-the-art machinery.
DELY Wafels' speciality? Frozen waffles. “Our products have a shelf life of 18 months. With a toaster, it takes just two minutes to prepare a delicious waffle that's ready to eat.” Only 3 to 4% of the company's waffles are sold under its own brand. Its main focus is on private-label production for other brands. “This allows us to produce larger volumes and reduce production costs,” explains Davy Van Poucke.
DELY Wafels exports its products worldwide, particularly to the United States, which represents a major market for the Walloon company. “Latin America is also an important market for us. We are looking to expand into Canada and South Africa, and we also see plenty of opportunities across Europe,” adds Davy Van Poucke.
From 17 to 21 October 2026, DELY Wafels will be exhibiting at SIAL Paris.
