Bruyerre Chocolates: Over a Century of Chocolate-Making Expertise Winning Over International Markets

Based in Gosselies, Belgium, Bruyerre Chocolates has been preserving its chocolate-making expertise for more than a century. Specialising in premium Belgian chocolates and truffles, the company offers more than 60 varieties of pralines and exports its creations to around 20 countries. Combining traditional craftsmanship with international expansion, the Belgian chocolate maker continues to diversify its product range.

Founded in 1909, Bruyerre Chocolates produces premium Belgian chocolates and confectionery at its 7,500 m² production facility in Gosselies.

“Bruyerre is a chocolate company with over a century of history. Initially, the business focused on distributing raw materials, dried fruits and nuts, and products for bakers and pastry chefs. Over the years, successive owners made acquisitions and expanded the product range until 2018, when Bruyerre decided to split its operations and sell off its production division. This was acquired by Olivier de Macar and Marc Delsemme, who went on to establish Bruyerre Chocolates,” explains Maxime Branne, Sales & Marketing Manager at Bruyerre Chocolates.

“Today, our core business focuses primarily on pralines and truffles. We produce our own praline filling in-house, at our own factory. This has become quite rare and is something worth highlighting. We are genuinely committed to preserving the artisanal character of our products,” says Maxime Branne.

Bruyerre Chocolates currently offers a range of more than 60 different pralines. “We sell our products in around 20 countries worldwide. Belgium remains our main market, but we also export to France, Italy, Spain, the United States, South Korea, Japan and many others. We offer different types of products depending on the market,” he explains.

More than 50% of Bruyerre Chocolates’ turnover comes from private-label production. This means that products are manufactured by a food producer but marketed under the brand name of a retailer or professional customer rather than that of the manufacturer. “We are flexible, which means we can often meet the needs of customers looking for premium products to sell under their own brand,” adds Maxime Branne.

Bruyerre Chocolates’ signature product? The Alhambra praline. “It is our iconic hazelnut praline, featuring delicious crunchy hazelnut pieces and coated in milk chocolate,” highlights Maxime Branne. Truffle production is also becoming an increasingly important part of the company's business, as the Belgian chocolate maker seeks to distinguish itself from its competitors.

From October 17 to 21, 2026, Bruyerre Chocolates will be exhibiting at SIAL Paris.
