We now know the names of the 27 young people in the Belgian Team 2018 at Euroskills, the European skills competition. Twenty-two of them are Walloons! They will compete in 24 different trades (three trades will be performed in teams).
This event takes place every two years and is an opportunity to promote manual and technical skills to the public through high-level competitions.
These 27 young people (including eight girls) successfully completed the pre-selection stage before joining the Belgian team. In mid-March, they took part in the Championnat Belge des Métiers (Belgian Skills Championship) during Startech's Days 2018 and finished in the Top 3 in their event.
They have undergone a unique training programme with Worldskills Belgium experts, during which they were taught soft skills. This programme is a real opportunity for the medallists to experience personal and professional development.
The trades represented include web development, automotive technology, welding, fashion technology, cabinet-making, IT network management, infographics and cooking.
The young people selected now have five months to prepare for the competition, which will take place in Budapest from 26 to 28 September.
