From 10 to 13 March 2026, real estate professionals from around the world will gather, as they do every year, on the Croisette in Cannes for the International Market for Property Professionals (MIPIM). This major event will see Wallonia participating for the 24th consecutive year in the Belgian pavilion, “Real Belgium”.
For the 2026 edition, the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) will host 14 co-exhibitors on its stand ( AAFH Architecte, AAVO Architects, BVI.eu, GRE Liège, IDEA, IDETA, IGRETEC, inBW, Intervest, Matexi, MG Real Estate, Timber Tailor, Verviers, Willy Naessens)
and 58 real estate projects will be presented in Cannes. Several conferences dedicated to the cities of Charleroi, Liège, Namur and Tournai will be organized during MIPIM in order to showcase Wallonia’s achievements and distinctive strengths to an international audience.
This year, Wallonia has chosen the theme “The Walloon Cities of Tomorrow: Sustainable and Multimodal.”
The Cities of Tomorrow: Sustainable and Multimodal
Sustainability remains a key priority in the real estate sector, as demonstrated by the latest survey conducted by GRESB—the global benchmark for sustainability in real assets—and MIPIM. In October–November 2025, MIPIM and GRESB launched a new sustainability survey among their respective real estate communities. From nearly 200 responses collected worldwide, the study reveals that two-thirds of respondents still consider sustainability to be a central element of their strategy, and almost half plan to do even more in 2026.
Wallonia is fully aligned with this momentum. For several years, the region has positioned itself at MIPIM around this commitment to sustainability, and the 2026 edition will continue this approach of shaping urban spaces that are sustainable, connected and focused on quality of life. By rethinking mobility, spatial planning and energy management, Wallonia promotes harmonious urban development that respects the environment and adapts to new lifestyles. The energy renovation of buildings, the redevelopment of former industrial sites, the creation of green spaces and the circular management of resources are all integral to this sustainable urban vision.
Mobility lies at the heart of this transformation. Wallonia prioritizes a multimodal approach that combines public transport, active mobility and shared solutions in order to provide sustainable alternatives to the use of private cars. Thanks to better interconnection between infrastructures (railway stations, multimodal hubs and park-and-ride facilities), Walloon cities are becoming more accessible, more fluid and more resilient.
This transformation is opening new real estate opportunities: high-performance residential projects, eco-responsible activity zones, transport infrastructure and mixed-use districts combining spaces for living, working and leisure.
On the occasion of MIPIM, Wallonia aims to demonstrate that investing in Wallonia means contributing to the construction of a sustainable, innovative and people-centred urban future.
A ULiège Student Invited to MIPIM
Looking toward the future, MIPIM 2026 will offer a student from the University of Liège, Faculty of Architecture, the opportunity to immerse herself in the heart of the exhibition’s ecosystem—at the crossroads of real estate, construction and architecture, as well as the international promotion of Walloon expertise.
This invitation, offered by Wallonia Export & Investment Agency, was organised in collaboration with Frédéric Hasevoets, professor at the University of Liège, Faculty of Architecture, and also an exhibitor on the Walloon stand through his company AAFH! ARCHITECTE. A call for applications was launched among all students enrolled in their final year at the Faculty of Architecture. Based on the applications received, Drissia Zouak was selected to take part in MIPIM. In addition to discovering the exhibition and gaining a first immersion in the professional world, she will also participate as a speaker at the AAFH ARCHITECTE conference on the city of Namur and the reconversion of sites.
Beyond the educational and professional experience offered to the student, this initiative forms part of a broader effort to highlight emerging talent, foster knowledge transfer and showcase Walloon excellence in the fields of architecture and the built environment.
