Terrain Vague, la poésie en céramique

Founded by designer Damien Gernay and ceramicist Julie Istasse, Terrain Vague is a Belgian-based studio that seeks to explore the links between art and craftsmanship, between love of nature and new technologies.

Each piece is made by hand, in a style that is both delicate and raw. “Our work is about contemplation, it's a way of infusing emotions or a story into the materials.”

Through the Dialogue project, the two artists have connected their creations to gastronomy, giving their objects a second life with chefs like Kamo Tomoyasu and Régis Baudy.

Selected by Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode alongside four other designers, Terrain Vague showcased its ethical values of craftsmanship and sustainability at the Révélations 2025 salon in Paris this May (part of the Belgium is Design project). By letting their art speak for itself, this studio is telling an important, thoroughly Belgian story.
