"The Belgian flag was flying at the 64th IAC Space Expo (International Astronautical Congress) that took place from 23rd to 27th September. The Skywin aerospace cluster and association Wallonia Espace were both there, thanks to AWEX's Chinese office.
Four members of Skywin exhibited their expertise and had the opportunity to network with Chinese industrials and measure the temperature of the aerospace industry across the globe: Amos in Liège for opto-mechanical (including telescope mirrors), Thales Alenia Space Belgium in Charleroi for power conditioning on board satellites (supply of power units to CAST/Chinese Academy of Space Technology), the University of Liège with the Centre Spatial de Liège (CSL that welcomed a Chinese PHD student on placement) and EHP (Euro Heat Pipes) in Nivelles (European specialists in high-performance heat pipes).
Belgian senate member Dominique Tilmans (Province of Luxembourg), made a special trip to Beijing to learn about the role of China's young generation in Chinese aerospace development.
