An Aubel resident honoured by Gault&Millau

Passionate about ecology and cooking, for around ten years Valérie Mostert has hosted courses on healthy cooking and organic cuisine. She recently received the "Person of the Year 2017" award organised by "We're Smart World". A distinction that will see her entered into the 2018-2019 edition of the Gault&Millau Vert. Every year the vert (green) guide showcases restaurants, but also projects honouring healthy cooking.

From 1 to 7 May, the 8th Fruit and Vegetables week is held at the instigation of Frank Fol (the Vegetable Chef) and We're Smart World. We’re Smart® World is a recent platform offering a new vision of a world working towards better health, more ecological, more balanced, more social and more respectful of community living.

Every year, they honour the restaurants, stores, businesses and people who make special efforts in their region to promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, through fruits and vegetables or who have used a creative medium.

Valérie Mostert received the "Person of the Year 2017" award for a cuisine unlike any other. For her, cooking begins in the garden, then follows with the senses, as her book, entitled "Cuisine of the five senses" explains. In the book, she would like to encourage people to adopt a different approach when they cook.

Valérie Mostert has shaped her kitchen garden and developed her passion for the earth in Aubel, in the Pays de Herve.

She believes in cooking healthy, tasty and seasonal products, cultivating the earth while respecting it, buying local and eating organic, but not just any old how. A real philosophy of life that she also shares through books and training courses.

"Passionate to the core, I like to look at the positive side of life and take pleasure in what I hold dear. I love passing on my passion for healthy, local and organic food", explains Valérie Mostert. A way of thinking that appeals.
